HOW IT WORKS:
The fractional CO2 laser takes the CO2 laser beam and fractionates, or pixellates, that beam into thousands of tiny little shafts of light. These tiny shafts of light penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin. The skin then repairs those tiny shafts by pushing out the old sun damaged skin and replacing it with new skin. The “collateral” heat damage also helps to shrink existing collagen. |
Fractional CO2 laser resurfacing is the anti-ageing breakthrough of the decade, and ablative-fractional CO2 continues to be the gold standard for all facial rejuvenation procedures aimed at improving skin quality. The ablative – fractional CO2 Laser was developed as a way for laser clinicians and dermal specialists to get closer to the positive clinical results produced by “traditional” full ablative CO2 laser resurfacing, with less client downtime, and fewer overall adverse events.

How many treatments will I need?
Typically, only one treatment is needed for desired results. However, since treatments can be adjusted to your cosmetic and downtime expectations, you can opt for two or three “lighter” sessions. The Dermal Specialist & prospective clients will determine the best approach to treatment during the initial consultation process, based on each individual case
Does the treatment hurt?
A strong topical numbing agent is applied to the skin prior to treatment to help with any discomfort. The majority of clients report no pain during the treatment and the procedure is fairly quick so its comforting to know the whole experience is very short.
What should I expect IMMEDIATELY following treatment?
Immediately after the treatment, your skin will feel warm and appear to be sunburned. You may also experience some swelling which is completely normal. The top layer of skin will turn brown and crusted. This layer of skin will peel off in 3-5 days, leaving smooth, pink skin underneath. After the skin sheds, you may wear makeup. Post treatment erythema (redness) is common, which fades after about 2 weeks. Subsequently, your skin will look noticeably tightened, and most clients say they look 5-10 years younger. As new collagen is created over the next few months, results improve further.
Is there any downtime?
With no downtime and minimal side effects or risks, you may immediately return to your daily activities. Discuss all concerns, related history, medication, skin care, aftercare and specialised instructions with your laser clinician before undertaking this procedure.
How long will the results last?
With proper skin care and protection, results often last year

i've heard of other variations of co2 laser technology, what is the most effective?
Since the introduction of the fractional CO2 laser technology, multiple variations have come and gone. The information available to the clients as well as some dermal specialists are overwhelming, which presents a barrier in making informed choices for prospective clients. Non-ablative resurfacing devices including (Fraxel re:store, Fraxel re:fine) are not as effective for skin rejuvenation as ablative fractional CO2.
